Two sources of light, blue coming in from the window and yellow from the artificial light in the room.

I decided to paint the image without cropping or changing too much in the original image;

For the painting I darkened the background so the dog would stand out and I removed a lot of details.

For example, I simplified the lace in the window to vertical lines with broad strokes and changed the colour from white to blue.

This was a small (A4) picture but I painted a thumbnail painting of the painting on the back wall in the painting, which also includes a tiny painting of the painting on the back wall of that painting.
